Invitation to volunteer with the Tshwane Leadership Foundation
Only with the helping hand of volunteers can TFL create healthy and vibrant communities. Many of our programmes were started through the generous support of dedicated volunteers. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us. TLF has an ongoing need for volunteers in the following areas:
Rebokomoso Baby Care Centre in Struben Street – 35 babies 0-3 years:
presence as an assistant (especially in the mornings);
any skill that will help in the development of the babies;
cakes for birthdays (or alternatives because so many children have allergies these days!).
Inkululeko Day-care Centre in Salvokop – 60 children:
the nursery school needs assistants who are prepared to relieve teachers when they are not available, and also to work with the teachers in the classrooms;
any creative contributions towards the children’s development in all fields;
cakes for birthday parties;
games and presence in the afternoons;
Homework Centre in Salvokop – 35 children (Grades 1-3):
help with homework (Afrikaans and Mathematics especially);
any educational support that could assist in the development of the children;
games and presence in the afternoons after the homework is finished;.
workshops on developmental aspects, suitable to their level
Holiday Programmes – 50-100 children:
contributions towards providing interesting programmes;
preparing food and refreshments;
providing transport for outings.
Youth – 13-35 years old
development through sport (we have equipment, including chess);
development through the arts – any art discipline (coaching and directing);
development through leadership – any help in terms of leadership development.
Lerato House in Struben Street – 15 teenage girls
help with homework (afternoons);
individual attention and weekend service to relieve house mothers/weekend programmes
outreach on the streets and at the prison;
spiritual support (individual or in groups)
The Potters’ House for women in crisis – 24 women and their children at a time
any therapeutic work (from massage to counselling); spiritual support – Bible study, prayer, workshops;
medical care, legal help, job creation, assistance in finding employment;
outreach on the streets and in Weskoppies Hospital.
Rivoningo Care Centre for terminally ill patients – spiritual support, help in caring for patients, nursing, recreational activities, therapeutic activities, transport (in our vehicle);
Gilead for people with chronic mental disabilities, (including depression and personality disorders) – creative skills, assistance in support of the house mother, medical care, outings, spiritual support, practical help;
Mobile HIV counselling and testing – trained people who can help in this way, transport and practical help;
Outreach on the streets and at Weskoppies Hospital
Job creation and assistance in finding work
Therapeutic and developmental programmes
Spiritual support – individual or in groups
Join the Tshwane Homelessness Forum and participate in lobbying and advocacy, as well as discussing and working on ‘finding pathways out of homelessness’.
People who can make video clips, design websites, pamphlets, and brochures, and who understand internet technology and can help with maintenance
Knowledge of financial and economics matters – systems, investments, banks, fundraising and business;
Maintenance – of everything! There is a great need for help with small and big tasks;
Specialists in various fields connected to our target groups – children, youth, women, health, and homeless people – people who are prepared to share their knowledge with the staff or with members of our communities;
Specialists in ”organizational development” who can deliver strategic inputs;
Specialists in housing aspects (development, construction, planning, management, architecture and financing);
Administration – general office work.
We welcome interns from various fields to do their placement within the organisation and are happy to discuss corporate volunteering options as well.
